Create a portal account

Create a portal account in a few steps, verify your email, add your contact details and sign in to see your records. A portal account is separate from staff sign-in and never gives staff access.

Before you start

Have these details ready. You will enter them once, and the portal will fill them in on later applications.

  • An email address you can open during registration, the verification message goes there
  • Your full name and phone number as they should appear on town records
  • Whether you are applying as an individual or for a company, and your mailing address
  • A password you can keep, do not reuse a password from another site

If you are a contractor or business owner, use the email your company already uses for permits where you can. Records linked to that email are easier for staff to match to your account. If a record does not appear after you sign in, ask staff to link it by email.

Steps

Follow the steps in order. You can stop and return to finish, drafts save as you go.

  1. 1. Register

Open Sign in and choose the option to create a portal account. Enter your email, name, phone, individual or company choice, mailing address and a password. Read what the account adds before you submit, it lets you apply, upload, pay and request inspections, while public search stays open without an account.

  2. 2. Verify your email

Open the verification message in your inbox and follow the link inside it. The link signs you in to finish setup. Email must be verified before you can submit an application, drafts can be saved before that step but cannot be submitted.

  3. 3. Complete your profile

Check the name, phone, company name and mailing address you entered. Add notification choices for email and text where the screen offers them. You can update contact details later from your account page, the change applies to future messages and forms.

  4. 4. Sign in

Return to Sign in, enter the email and password you chose, and sign in. Your home page shows drafts to finish, records in progress, fees due, upcoming inspections and unread messages. Each record shows one clear next step in plain words.

If the verification email does not arrive

Work through these checks before you ask staff for help.

Check the spam or junk folder for the town name or portal name, and check that the email address has no extra spaces at the start or end. Wait a few minutes and check again, then use the resend option on the sign-in page if the screen offers it. If the address was typed with a mistake, register again with the correct address and verify that one. If it still does not arrive, contact the town office with the email address you used, they can check the account status. Do not share your password when you ask for help.
