Inspect on a phone and keep the office in sync
Schedule and assign inspections by day and route, record each checklist result with photos and signature on a phone, and sync when coverage returns. The applicant sees the result and what to fix next.
Scheduling and assignment by day and route
See inspection requests from issued permits, confirm a date and window, and assign an inspector. My day opens todays inspections on a phone, in route order, with address, parcel, history and the approved plans.
Confirm the request
Open the request queue, confirm the date and time window, and check prerequisites. An inspection can be scheduled only where the permit type and status allow it, and prerequisites must be passed first.
Assign the inspector
Assign by day, workload and route. The assigned inspector sees only the work assigned to them or their department and in progress.
Open the day on a phone
Open todays inspections in route order. Each stop shows the permit, parcel, contact, document and photo history for the site.
Phone checklist with photos, comments, violations and signature
Record pass, fail or not applicable per checklist item, add photos, comments, violations and a signature, then submit or queue for sync. Inspection types set whether a photo or signature is required.
- A failed item needs a comment and, where the checklist requires it, a photo before the result can be submitted.
- Field results, comments, photos, attachments, signatures, violations and follow-up stay on the permit record.
- Photos strip location metadata before sync. A photo is never shown in a public record view without that check.
The field form works one checklist item at a time on a phone browser. No separate app download is needed.
Offline work and sync states
Field work saved offline shows a queued state and syncs in order when coverage returns. The inspector can see what is waiting, what synced and what needs review before leaving the site.
- Records cached on the device include the assigned inspection, parcel, history, checklist and approved plans for that day only.
- Queued results and photos sync when the device reconnects, with the sync time recorded on the record.
- Conflicts are flagged for staff review. An offline result never overwrites a newer office change without a visible conflict and a staff decision.
- A result cannot be edited after sync without a new audit entry and a reason.
Reinspections and applicant notices
Open a failed inspection, read each failed item, schedule the follow-up visit and tell the applicant what to fix. The applicant receives a notice when an inspection is scheduled and when it is resulted.
Read the failed items
Open the failed inspection and read each failed item with its comment and photo, if one was required.
Schedule the follow-up
Schedule a reinspection for the failed items only, with a new date and window and the same inspector where the town prefers it.
Cancel with a reason
Cancelling an inspection needs a reason and tells the applicant how to request a new time.
